PwC Data Science and Analytics advisors work with clients to solve various business problems or spot unidentified issues using advanced data processing, analytics methodologies and technologies.

Due to the continued growth of our Advisory practices we are currently seeking for highly motivated Data and Analytics Big Data Engineer to join our Data and Analytics (D&A) team. D&A is a core team responsible of providing Advanced Big Data Management, Visualization and Predictive Modelling Scientific solutions and applications based on Big data approaches across the PwC Greece office.

If you successfully pass our recruitment assessment process then you will see yourself gaining experience from various design, transformation and processes of large volumes of data deploying the most appropriate methodologies and technologies.  One time you will work on designing the data model and warehouse of a big data infrastructure focusing on optimizing systems’ performance of a leading international organization, while the other time you will be part of a team working on supporting our D&A team on various predictive modelling advisory projects utilizing appropriate software solutions.

  • Understand our client’s business questions and propose appropriate big data processing approaches to reach optimal solutions at a very tight time lines
  • Working closely with a talented team of data scientists and engineers to solve important and challenging problems for clients and internal teams
  • Extracting, transforming, cleaning, combining and integrating data from a wide variety of sources
  • Choosing, deploying, tuning and monitoring appropriate databases, architectures and tools for various data flows
  • Driving performance improvements on data flows and architectures
  • Ensuring that the team’s proposed solutions will work at scale
  • Building suitable testing procedures to ensure quality
  • Communicating your findings as well as training colleagues and clients alike with best practices in your field
  • Lead or be part of challenging projects covering a broad range of various functions of the top organizations in Greece and/or abroad.
  • Creating targeted presentations to communicating the insights and key messages of your findings so you maximize the client’s project outcomes.
  • Be continuously updated and informed about methodologies and technologies on the field of big data warehouse and processing.
  • Be a key member of the Data Science and Analytics team and contribute to the research and development of the team.

Job Requirements

What we look for?

  • A Master’s Degree in Computer Science or other IT related field (a PhD would be a plus)
  • Excellent programming skills in at least one modern programming language (Java, Python, C++ etc.)
  • Excellent knowledge of databases and SQL (Microsoft SQL , Spark SQL, Hive)
  • Excellent understanding of computer science fundamentals such as algorithms and complexity
  • A solid understanding of, and preferably experience with, distributed computing platforms such as Hadoop and Spark
  • Experience with cloud computing environments such as Microsoft Azure or AWS
  • Experience with certain topics such as message queuing systems, distributed caches, enterprise search, micro-services and/or stream processing will be considered a big plus
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
  • Highly motivated and effective at learning new skills and technologies
  • A positive and enthusiastic attitude for working in different industries and markets
  • Commitment to providing excellent quality work
  • Ability to express ideas verbally and in writing, in a clear, concise and professional manner (both in English & in Greek)
  • Military services fulfilled for male candidates
